The sun is just coming up here in Texas this Sunday morning and my house is still pretty quiet – just the slight crackle of a fire in the fireplace and my snoring pooch are breaking the silence.
I decided to boost my ranking as favorite mom (at least in this house) in less than 30 minutes by filling the house with sweet smelling “monkey bread”, or at least, my version of it.
You’ll need:- 2 cans of Pillsbury Grands Jr. Biscuits
- 4 T butter (I like 50/50 Smart Balance)
- 3/4 C Maple Syrup
- 1/2 C Brown Sugar
- 3/4 t Cinnamon
- 1/2 C Roasted Pecans
In a 1 cup glass measuring cup, (or small bowl) melt the butter in the microwave then add your syrup.
In a 2 cup glass measuring cup (or small bowl) mix the brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans.
Pour half of the syrup mixture into your cake pan, then half of the sugar mixture.
Place the biscuits in the pan, on their edges, overlapping as you go – it will be very full.
Pour the rest of the syrup and sugar over the top of the biscuits and bake at 375 F for about 20 minutes.
When it comes out of the oven, invert on a plate (that is big enough and deep enough for the syrup) and try not to eat too much…
Happy Sunday to you! Enjoy what’s left of your weekend.
Yum! And it looks so easy even I can do it! Thanks. Lisa~
